Health Consumers’ Council (HCC) was founded in 1994 as an independent, not-for-profit organisation. We are a trusted voice representing the interests of health consumers, carers, and community members; ensuring consumers are at the heart of health policy, planning, research and service delivery.
Equitable, person-centred, quality healthcare for all West Australians.
To increase the capacity of all people to influence the future direction of health care and to make informed choices
valuing diversity and seeking everyone’s contribution.
considering other people’s world views, experiences and emotions.
advocating for the whole community.
collaborating to achieve positive outcomes.
aligning actions with our values and measuring outcomes to continuously improve.
sharing knowledge and resources to support informed choice and positive change.
We provide advocacy for any person experiencing an issue with any part of the WA health system. When someone is having trouble navigating health services, or faces a barrier in accessing health services, we can help by providing information, support and advice. If they would like us to, we can speak, act, and write on their behalf, to help ensure their health rights are upheld.
Consumers play a vital role in improving health and health services. We provide a range of resources, supports, and training for everyday people who want to have a say on health in WA.
We have a proud history of influencing positive, long-term changes in the WA health system, to ensure the system continually improves in how it responds to the needs and voices of the community. We use insights and feedback from consumers to address the systemic issues that impact people across WA.
We provide a range of resources, training, and fee-for-service projects for health services, health staff, and health providers who want to partner with consumers on policy, planning, and delivery of services.
