HCC has a proud history of influencing positive, long-term changes in the WA health system, to ensure the system continually improves in how it responds to the needs and voices of the community.
We use the insights and feedback from consumers through our health advocacy service and engagement program to address the systemic issues that impact people across WA.
We do this by raising issues that are important to consumers with senior decision makers every chance we get. That includes when we sit on high level committees, meetings with the Minister for Health/Mental Health and their team, speaking to the media, and in meetings and forums with clinicians, planners and policy makers. We also respond to requests for policy submissions, as well as proactively raising issues with relevant staff.
We do this work in partnership with others, including the Aboriginal Health Council of WA, Consumers of Mental Health WA, Carers WA and the Alcohol and Other Drug Consumer and Community Coalition.
